Our verdict

TheraNatal Complete tops our 2026 prenatal vitamin ranking at 7.7/10, and Firsthand earns nothing on it. It is listed under NSF/ANSI 173, and Theralogix says NSF tests it for content accuracy and purity. The formula covers the gaps that show up in many prenatals: 27 mg of iron, which matches the pregnancy RDA, 300 mg DHA, 250 mg choline and iodine, with 75 mcg (3,000 IU) of vitamin D3. NIH notes that prenatal supplements often contain little or no choline, and the American Thyroid Association advises 150 mcg of supplemental iodine in pregnancy. A Cochrane review of 70 trials found omega-3 supplementation in pregnancy was linked to fewer preterm births. Downsides: three pills a day, about $0.97 a day, and choline that still falls short of the 450 mg intake level. NIH's label record lists the folate as L-methylfolate, while USPSTF's advice is based on folic acid. Agree the plan with your prenatal clinician.

What the evidence says

Pros & cons

Pros

  • Listed by NSF under NSF/ANSI 173, and Theralogix says it is independently tested by NSF for content accuracy and purity
  • Covers the nutrients most cheap prenatals miss: 27 mg iron, iodine, 300 mg DHA and 250 mg choline per day
  • Iron matches the 27 mg pregnancy RDA and stays well under the 45 mg upper limit
  • Iodine, choline and DHA all come in one daily pack, so you do not need separate add-ons

Cons & red flags

  • Three pills a day: two tablets and one softgel
  • About $0.97 a day, several times the cost of a basic prenatal
  • 250 mg choline is still well short of the 450 mg pregnancy intake level
  • The NIH label record lists folate as L-methylfolate; the USPSTF recommendation is based on folic acid, so ask your clinician which form they want you on
