Background: Retirement is a major life transition that may influence cognitive aging. Retirement pathways are becoming increasingly diversified, yet evidence on how heterogeneous retirement trajectories relate to dementia risk remains limited. This study used sequence and cluster analysis to characterize thousands of transition-to-retirement trajectories, including retirement timing and work intensity, to estimate associations with dementia risk.
