Objective: The Genetic Risk for Serious Mental Illness and Development ("Paisa Kids") Study is establishing a longitudinal cohort of 3,000 youth enriched transdiagnostically for risk for serious mental illnesses (SMI; i.e., schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and severe depression) from the Paisa region of Colombia. Its objective is to clarify the early clinical, neurobehavioral, genetic, and environmental profiles associated with later SMI and distinguish transdiagnostic from disorder-specific pathways.
