Background & Aims: Childhood obesity is a complex, heterogeneous disease. Children with obesity are often grouped into metabolically healthy obesity (MHO) and metabolically unhealthy obesity (MUO) phenotypes, although this classification may oversimplify the underlying metabolic diversity.
